Issue Position: Jobs

Issue Position

Jobs and economic growth have always been pivotal to my candidacy, and more importantly to the prosperity of the state. In the face of COVID19, millions of Illinoisans are dealing with unprecedented levels of job insecurity and more and more, they are relying on government to help them through this difficult time. I am running for this office to fight for your family, grow our economy, and protect your jobs. Never before has it been more necessary for our elected officials to face the reality of our circumstances and make difficult, but necessary, decisions to shrink government and grow the economy.

The only way that we can thrive is make Illinois as friendly to growth as possible and to do so I will fight hard for lower taxes, support for small businesses that have been devastated by this crisis, and will oppose the reckless spending policies that have left our government woefully unprepared for the coming budget meltdown that will result from billions in lost tax revenue. For too long, too many Illinois politicians have been openly hostile to business. Some have come to view capitalism and profit as fundamentally exploitative and we must stand up against these failed ideas.

My campaign is about family and families are hurting badly right now. People, not government, are what makes our state and our economy strong and being a champion for jobs and economic growth is for me, the most important way that I can support the families of my community now and in the future.

Some of my priorities include:

Cutting taxes and deregulating where appropriate
Consulting with business relocation experts to make Illinois more competitive to development
Emphasize vocational and STEM education to better prepare students for the workforce
Openly study the crisis of out-migration and develop a comprehensive strategy to stem the tide of families leaving the state for good
Significantly reduce the burden on small businesses, particularly through licensure, in order that they may overcome losses during the COVID19 crisis
Addressing the long-standing problem of high workers compensation and legal costs for businesses in Illinois
Introduce legislation that would require state agencies to "buy Illinois" for materials and supplies whenever possible
